John Noreyko’s TUBOP is a Neo-Bop ensemble, reworking standards from the fifties and sixties. While presented in an unfamiliar setting, this combination of traditional instruments allows a wide variety of tonal and timbre possibilities. With versatility at the forefront, TUBOP performs as a trio, quartet or quintet.

The exploitation of the tuba is what is most striking about the ensemble’s sound. Whether playing at ridiculous speed or squeezing emotion out of a sultry ballad, TUBOP provides artistic and ephemeral satisfaction.

The ensemble’s players are all seasoned professionals from the Los Angeles area, coming together to perform their favorite form of Jazz. The novel usage of the instruments and quirky arrangements makes for an aesthetic listening experience.
