Jose Rizo's Jazz on the Latin Side All Stars
A special celebration in January 2000 of the tenth anniversary of the‚ Jazz on the Latin Side' radio program, hosted by Jose Rizo, became the birth of the, Jazz on the Latin Side All Stars. The concert was sold out two weeks in advance. The success and performance of that night were so incredible, that Rizo began receiving calls requesting the Jazz on the Latin Side All Stars. They have been performing steadily for several years now at such places as John Anson Ford Amphitheatre, the Luckman Fine Arts Complex, Catalina Jazz Club, The Jazz Bakery, Steamer‚Äôs Caf?©, and Playboy Jazz Festival. The Jazz on the Latin Side All Stars were the music entertainment for the Latin Grammy After Party two years ago at the Kodak Center.
The 16-piece JLS All Stars is a powerful all star ensemble, made up of legendary figures, state-of-the art studio musicians and popular bandleaders, including such notables, Justo Almario (tenor sax), Danilo Lozano (flute), Sal Cracchiolo (trumpet), Bijon Watson (trumpet), Robert Incelli (alto sax), Scott Martin (baritone sax), Jimmy Branly (timbales), Freddie Crespo (lead vocals), Michito Sanchez (congas), and Marvin "Smitty" Smith (drums). and more.
