About the Event

About us

The Violin/Viola Duo Novae, established itself in 2019 with the mission to present lesser-known repertoire for this string combination and to collaborate as colleagues from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Dr. Ambroise Aubrun, violin, holds the position of Assistant Professor of Violin at UNLV and Aritistic Director of the Henry Bruman Summer Chamber Music Series at UCLA. Kate Hamilton, viola, holds the position of Associate Professor of Viola, and is the Co-Director of the International Chamber Music Festival in Joao Pessoa, Brazil. Both players are dedicated teachers and have given master classes in the USA and internationally including the G. Verdi Conservatorio (Milan, Italy), the Sydney Conservatory, Guangzhou (China), New Zealand School of Music, New York University Steinhardt School of Music, State University of New York at Fredonia, McGill University Conservatory of Music, and Montreal University. Their individual recordings for the Hortus, Centaur, and Navona labels have received positive reviews from the international press.

Upcoming projects include the recording of lesser-known works of York Bowen and performances in France, Italy, and the USA. Both professors enjoy frequent solo recitals, as well as chamber music and orchestral collaborations around the globe. Kate Hamilton has been a substitute in the Berlin Philharmonic subscription series (Germany) since 2019 and Ambroise Aubrun regularly plays with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
