Making Laguna a Music Town
Our education program, Live! Music Insights, is made up of three types of presentations. The core of our programming falls into the first group of programs which are offered entirely free; these programs focus on interactive music presentations at the public schools and the Boys and Girls Club (Live! Music and Kids), Glennwood House of Laguna Beach (a residential home for developmentally disabled adults) and the Susi Q senior center.
Education in three types of programs...
The second group of programs are ticketed public concerts with an educational component such as our history of jazz seminar, Blues is a Woman concert, our Generational Jive collaboration between students and professional musicians, and our annual Bluegrass concert and conversation. Students and children are free or discounted at these presentations.
The second type of program...
The third portion of our educational programming takes place once each month at the Laguna Art Museum, where musicians perform and discuss their work, music and instruments. These Live! at the Museum concerts are free to museum members or to non-Museum members with museum admission. Since September 2020, these concerts have been prerecorded with a brief video of the artists describing their instruments or their music. These concerts and “musical notes” are available on our website and can be used for instruction with children.
