
Long regarded one of Southern California’s finest jazz vocalists, Karen Gallinger (gal – in – jur) is a performer who blends artistic passion and mastery of her craft into a dynamic and unique package. As a vocalist, her original sense of humor and “casual hipness” (Jazz Now) combine with her interpretive abilities to give her an artistic range that is “stylish and sultry” (O.C. A gifted composer and lyricist, her lyrics to a number of Bill Evans songs have been recorded by Tierney Sutton and Roseanna Vitro, among others. Ms. Gallinger currently headlines regularly in and around the Southern California area and has appeared at concerts, festivals and nightclubs in the USA, Europe and Asia.
Besides her musical performance schedule she is a writer and educator. She is currently on staff at the prestigious O.C. High School of the Arts teaching vocal jazz and theatre, and she is demand for clinics and master classes. She recently published her first book, The Zen of Singing, and is working on a new book about performance and creativity.
